WHO IS COMING?
Carbon Removal Camp is an invite-only facilitated event that brings together next generation leaders across the carbon removals space and from the wider climate movement.
We will create a space for those working in both technical and creative roles to intersect and exchange outside of usual silos. In particular we want to connect the carbon removal community with those working outside it - to challenge embedded perspectives and create new ones.
ABOUT US
This event is a collaboration between C02RE, the Greenhouse Gas Removal Future Leaders Network (FLN) and Selgars Mill, a rural coliving and retreat centre in Devon where we will host our first event.
The FLN is a new and evolving network bringing together early career professionals working on GGR in the UK. Originating as part of CO2RE, the network encompasses researchers, innovators and GGR solution developers, policy thinkers, consultants, corporates, trade associations, and many other emerging perspectives from across the GGR landscape.

This gathering is funded by CO2RE (a coalition of research institutions led by the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford).

THE AGENDA
The first two days will focus on mapping the expertise, challenges and needs of the group and gaining a better collective understanding of how the CDR industry is perceived within the wider climate movement. Rather than jumping into solution mode we aim to facilitate a deeper and more embodied enquiry and discussion, sensing into the wider systems change that is required to scale up the CDR industry in the years to come.

The final two days will be dedicated to ideation and prototyping, where the best ideas are refined in smaller teams through a design sprint and then further developed after the event through facilitated online calls.

We will encourage the sprint teams to have monthly calls to develop their solutions. We will also host separate monthly community calls to reflect back on the impact and insights gained as a result of the gathering.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

THE LOCATION
A key element of climate camp is the beautiful rural location of Selgars Mill, where we will be gathering.

INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY
To further inclusion and diversity, organisers will take an approach that is:

Accessible
Through accessible ground floor accommodation, venue, and programme design.

Diverse and representative
The selected group brought together would cover a mix of participants from various different ethnic, cultural, age, gender, and economic backgrounds, with a broad range of different expertise (e.g., policy makers, private sector. funders and leaders).

International
Organisers will aim to bring in 8 international participants, including from the global south, through the FLN’s wider network of contacts.
