Including day guests in a residential retreat

Define when they join and what is included
A day guest needs more than a start time. Explain arrival, meals, activities, parking or transport and when the day ends. Confirm their numbers with the venue and caterer. If an evening discussion matters to the programme, do not assume someone can stay simply because overnight guests are available.
Avoid creating two different levels of participation
Put essential decisions inside the published programme, and record anything that emerges informally afterwards. Introduce day guests to the group rather than letting them arrive midway through an unexplained conversation. Check whether they need somewhere for belongings and time between travel and the first session. Residential warmth can be welcoming, but the organiser still needs to make the boundaries of a day visit clear.
Plan your next step
For the wider context, read our planning guide. If you are working through the next practical detail, agreeing phone and work boundaries on a retreat follows naturally from this.
You can also explore directions to Selgars. Bring the details of your group or stay to the conversation so we can discuss what fits, rather than assuming every arrangement is included.
