Organising car sharing for a countryside gathering
Team Selgars · · 1 min read
Offer a connection, not an obligation
Ask who is willing to drive and who would like a lift, then share details with consent. Confirm departure points, luggage space, expected contribution to costs and arrival time directly between travellers. Make an alternative available for people who cannot or do not want to share. A car-sharing sheet should not become pressure to disclose a home address publicly.
Plan the return journey too
Check whether everyone leaves at the same time and whether drivers have other commitments. Agree what happens if someone’s plans change. Ask the venue about parking and arrival access before encouraging multiple vehicles to turn up together. Keep the organiser informed of approximate arrival groups without tracking every movement. The aim is simpler travel, not another coordination task that lasts longer than the retreat.
Plan your next step
For the wider context, read our planning guide. If you are working through the next practical detail, including day guests in a residential retreat follows naturally from this.
