A decision log that survives the journey home

Record the choice, not the whole conversation

A useful offsite record answers four questions: what did we choose, why, who acts next and when do we review it? Add rejected options only when the reasoning will matter later. Put unresolved questions in a separate section so a suggestion does not quietly become policy. Agree the wording while the people responsible are still in the room.

Make the first action small enough to start

For each decision, identify an action someone can take in the first working week. Share one accessible document rather than photographs scattered across messages. Schedule a short follow-up before leaving, with decision owners reporting progress and obstacles. If the team changes its mind afterwards, update the record with the reason. The aim is a dependable memory, not a monument to the retreat.

Plan your next step

For the wider context, read our planning guide. If you are working through the next practical detail, including new starters in a team offsite follows naturally from this.

You can also explore team retreat options. Bring the details of your group or stay to the conversation so we can discuss what fits, rather than assuming every arrangement is included.

What are you waiting for?
