Running a prioritisation workshop away from the office

Agree the criteria before seeing the favourites
Ask the team to define what matters: customer impact, effort, confidence, dependencies or a fixed deadline. Write the criteria where everyone can see them. Each proposal should have the same short description and evidence standard. Otherwise a polished presentation can beat an important but poorly explained problem before the comparison has even begun.
Leave with fewer commitments
Score options independently, then discuss the biggest differences. Treat the numbers as prompts, not objective truth. Check who has capacity to do the chosen work and what must stop to make room. Finish by naming the decisions that remain uncertain and when new evidence might change them. A prioritisation session that approves everything has created a list, but has not helped anyone choose.
Plan your next step
For the wider context, read our planning guide. If you are working through the next practical detail, a team offsite session without slide decks follows naturally from this.
You can also explore team retreat options. Bring the details of your group or stay to the conversation so we can discuss what fits, rather than assuming every arrangement is included.
