Coliving
Being sociable in coliving without always being available
Team Selgars · · 1 min read
Make a friendly boundary clear
You can value community and still need uninterrupted work or an evening alone. Say what you need in ordinary language and offer a specific alternative when you want one: I am finishing something now, but would love to join dinner. Clear boundaries are easier for housemates to understand than disappearing and hoping they correctly interpret the reason.
Keep contribution separate from constant participation
Being present at every activity is not the only way to contribute. Cooking, cleaning a shared area or helping with an agreed task all matter. Learn which household responsibilities are expected and which social activities are optional. If the balance feels wrong, discuss it before resentment builds. Our coliving information sets out the shared-home approach at Selgars so you can consider whether it fits the kind of stay you want.
Plan your next step
For the wider context, read our coliving guide. If you are working through the next practical detail, preparing for a coliving pre-booking call follows naturally from this.
You can also explore coliving ethos and current prices. Bring the details of your group or stay to the conversation so we can discuss what fits, rather than assuming every arrangement is included.
