We have 2 pets of our own.
Zuko is the head of security and stick manager.
He is a 5 years old Bernese mountain dog.
He eats absolutely everything he finds on the ground (the nastier the better). He is sometimes too friendly (don't hesitate to tell him off) but won't hurt a fly.
He is afraid of pretty much everything but warms up to you quickly and loves a cuddle.
Like all dogs, he shades constantly, drools at times, and makes his puppy eyes when he sees you eating.
We recommend not giving in. If you do, **onions, grapes, and chocolate are poisonous to him.**
If you are afraid of dogs, please let us know asap.
PS: He WILL eat your socks and dirty clothes. Please don’t leave socks lying around. Last vet visits cost us a fortune because a sock got stuck, then a toy…then a cloth
Zuko likes to wander and as we do not have fances around the property we cannot let him roam freely unfortunately. Not to worry, he has a backyard behind our cottage and gets plenty of walks. You are welcome to walk him (on leash). Please note Zuko is not allowed in the Mill House.
And a young cat. Atticus, the cutest of freeloaders.
In the last days of September 2024, this little guy decided to make the Mill his house. We tried to change his mind, but there was no negotiating with the most stubborn kitten we had ever met. So, the Mill comes with a cat now.
He comes and goes as he pleases.
As with every kitten, he is very curious. Please be super careful when starting the laundry and dryer machines, opening and closing the fridges, or opening and closing the pantry.
PS: Zuko doesn't know about Atticus, so don't tell him.

So yes, we welcome pets.
Of course it depends on how many people want to come with pets at the same time and if the pet is a dog, if they are neutered or not. So please let us know as early as possible if you are planning to come with a pet so we can do our best to accommodate you.
The owner is responsible of the pet and have to clean behind it at all time. Collect and bag your dog poo and dispose of it in the general waste bin under the kitchen stairs.
Owners have to clean their dogs paws when entering the houses. **The dogs are only allowed on the ground and first floors and cannot sleep in the bedrooms, unless you are staying in the Lodges.**
We ask the dog owners to only use the external staircase via the kitchen to take the dog in and out to avoid the carpeted areas in the internal staircase and bedroom floors.
We expect the resident to respect other residents and make sure no one is bothered by the pet (excessive barking, jumping, scaring kids…)
Any damaged cause by the pet will be charged to the owner.
Please keep your dogs on lead or inside when you are not together. There are livestock beyond our property boundaries. It is also possible for your dog to wander onto dangerous roads.
